From the Inside Flap

When a charming polar bear cub climbs into bed one night, she asks her Mama a very important question--one that little "human cubs" often wonder about, too: "Where did I come from?" As Mama bear tucks her youngest cub under the quilts, she gently, tenderly, and reassuringly communicates the message loving parents everywhere (bears and non-bears alike) want their little ones to hear: "We wanted you very, very much, and we are so very glad because--"God gave us you." Perfect for bedtime, naptime, storytime or anytime, God Gave Us You provides a valuable opportunity to build children's self-esteem every day and assure each one that he or she truly is a welcomed, precious, and treasured gift from the Lord.

We were given this book as a present when we were expecting our twins and I bought it for my sister-in-law for her son's baptism. I love this book and read it to my kids frequently. The book has a beautiful message and talks about how excited the mama and papa bears are as they get ready for their new baby to arrive. I love how the book shows that a child is a gift from God and that we should love Him. This book makes the perfect bedtime story and has beautiful pictures of the animals. This book would be great for a shower, baptism, or as a gift in general to any parent who wants their child to know that they are a gift and that they are loved. I highly recommend this sweet book.

Yes [spoiler] this book ends with twins, which was exactly what we're looking for! It's hard to find books for parents expecting twins to read to their child(ren) so this is perfect. My 3yo already loves 'God Gave Us You' and 'God Gave Us Christmas' and was thrilled to receive another book from this series. This author does have a particular writing style which is not everyone's cup of tea, but I find it sweet and calming to read and our child likes it. The story focuses on the blessing of a growing family, answers questions that an older sibling may have, and reminds them that each child in a family is a special gift from God. For those worried the ending with twins will confuse a child expecting one sibling, I don't think it will. It's one page of the book. If they are old enough to understand this story (it's a story book, not a picture book or one-sentence-per-page book) then they'll understand you clarifying that you are bringing home one child, not two.

We love this series! ... and this book for the most part! The only problem was the book has a surprise ending of *twins*. I'd love to give this book as a gift to other families who are expecting their second child, but I don't want to confuse their kid about whether there's two babies or one. Thankfully my own daughter didn't understand that part to be confused, especially since everyone was joking about me having twins anyway, because the baby was so large! The parents encouraged the older child that she will love the baby, explained that the baby will cry, and assured her that she will always be loved! It even showed the older child having fun with her grandparents while Mom and Dad went to the hospital to have the baby. As I said, it was a great book until the surprise ending...

Oh my word!! I love this book!! Such a neat introduction to teaching your children that "God gave them you" so cute, definitely would buy this again. My daughter is 4 and she loves when I read this to her at night.

Perhaps I should have pre-read this or waited longer for my hormones to settle. I read this to my 10 week old and I couldn’t help but cry and I think it scared the little guy. This story is so beautiful and perfect and sweet. The illustrations are beautiful. I love this book. It perfectly illustrates the journey, love, and anticipation of having a baby. I definitely recommend (but wait until you are emotionally stable to read to your little one).

This is the second book in the God Gave us series we have purchased for our child. The story is a great one between a grandpa and young cub about how we are to love others and how God also loves us even more. Great story about love, faith and the perfect love of God who gave us His son.Pros: great story, colorful pictures.cons: the story at one point goes from grandpa cub talking about families to suddenly they are having a group family hug with little cubs parents, which causes the story to not flow well at that one point.

Warning, this book will likely make you cry. This is the most adorable book for someone who has a baby girl. The mother polar bear tells her cub about how she and her husband prayed for her, how they waited with longing expectation for her birth, and the mother keeps emphasizing the gift that God gave to them in their little cub. I received it as a gift when our daughter was born and I have purchased it for many friends since who have had daughters as their first born. The illustrations are beautiful.

I’ve had this book since I found it in a Walmart in main nearly 15 years ago. It’s my daughter and i’s most favorite book and I now give a copy to expecting friends/family since the “new” thing is to give a book with a special note rather than a card. I think it really helps parents who are not ready to really talk about where babies come from explain where babies come from. It’s endearing and heartfelt and something my daughter will read to her kids someday.

It’s cute and I love how they go through the different thoughts an only child might have anticipating their new sibling. But the ending has the polar bear giving birth to twins, and it was a little confusing for my 3 year old since we are only having one baby girl. They also don’t find out what they’re having and we did so it just doesn’t fit our life situation very well and the point of us buying books like these was to prepare our son for the arrival of his new sister. Should have done more research into the content of the book. Still kept it.
